Well I rambled on about religion so I might as well...
Politics is another thing that really bothers me. Its not really the politics that bothers me or the intrigue and subterfuge and what not...I love this stuff and want to be a politician. What bothers me is the party systems--specifically the American system/the two party system. Inherently, the system actually works somewhat seeing as it has lasted 200+ years, but it does have its ups and downs.
One of the major problems is that because there was no specification for parties within the constitution, these uneasy allicances have varied over time, and at the moment, they mighta s well be the same. They use the same strategies, techniques and what sets them apart is the support of the war on terror and SOME of the values.
First the Republican Party: these are the douchebags who stole the election in 200 and then in 2004 managed to win. Bush is a moron, Cheney is a monster and at the very least Ashcroft is gone. This is the party that is full of a bunch of lying scum who played the game quite well and managed to get the conservative half of the country to vote for them. One of the largest problems with this is that they use slander tactics to shoot down everyone who doesnt agree with them. They slam the democrats as liberal nutcases who will just blow the budget and mismanaged the country. They slam anyone who doesnt support sending out soldiers over seas as hurting the country and not patriotic which is just bullshit. I consider myself to be quite patriotic, but at the same time I encourage freedom of speech, constitutional rights and one of those rights is the right to disagree with american foreign policy--something that cone be done while still supporting the troops. So this is the reason that I dont like the republicans (well a short list...notice I stay away from slamming them for their bible belt and religion based policies...I beleive that it says somewhere that church and state should be seperated...hmmm maybe someone should let them know).
The Democrats run into other problems including nominating on of the few people in their race that could have possibly lost to Bush. They are beginning to employ the same slam tactics are used by their counterparts and as a whole have moved far to close to the middle or to the right for my tastes. Over time, the Democrats have lost the initiative and have proven that a. they cant stand up to the republican party and b. cant lead without making serious mistakes (clinton is an exception).
And then you run into the problems faced by Clinton--accusations that because he recieved head from an intern. Cheating on spouses is not accepted readily by anyone, but there isabsolutely no reason that his sex life influences the way that he ran the country...it is just absurd. Personal lives are completely different than public lives in public office. If we were to impeach Clinton over this, then maybe we should go back to the founding fathers and posthumously impeach them for sleeping with their slaves. The republican party is far to obnoxious about what it considers right and wrong for all of this. In my opinion, if someone were to prove themselves as a good and competent leader, I would vote for him even if he was fucking a goat. Actually when picking between two people of the same qualities, I might even pick the guy fucking the goat just to prove my point. My point is that if he sleeps on the couch, on the floor, in the barn, with a goat, with an intern, with the vice president, I could care less. So long as he doesnt bring it into his decision making process or let it interfere with his work, then he is more than fine and still deserves to be our president.
And it would help if he didnt look like a monkey
Noodle out.
